A little boy’s pirate bedroom

I started to title this post “A toddler’s pirate bedroom” and then realised that, at three and a half (going on thirteen), my Oliver can’t realistically be called a toddler anymore. Except on days when I’m particularly in denial anyway!!

As part of my new blog project Our Four Walls (more on that in another post), I decided it was time to share something from our new house (oh yeah, we bought a house. FINALLY. Did I forget to mention that? More on that in another post too then!)

As Oliver’s room is the most ‘finished’, I decided to go with his room – plus I’m totally in love with it. There are still quite a few things I want to get for it but those will have to wait until the budget allows… apparently things like replacing chipped bathroom sinks and decorating bare plaster walls have to come above purchasing pretty white furniture for the kids bedrooms! I have sourced as many items I can, just in case you like the look of anything. Oh and one last thing, this isn’t a makeover post where I was given half of the stuff to review (unfortunately!), so my own purse bore the entire brunt of this bedroom project! Just in case you were wondering. Which you probably weren’t. 😉

Oliver’s room at our old rented place had a sort of pirate theme going on ever since we bought him his Noa and Nani pirate mid sleeper cabin bed so I wanted to follow that theme through in his new bedroom now that I am able to do things like paint and fix stuff to the walls!

(I love this! It’s perfect here for those ‘little treasures’ that small children love to hoard in their beds haha!)

Lampshade – Ebay | ‘Baby’ moneypot – Terramundi (this was a gift from Oliver’s great grandma when he was born!)

White shelf unit – IKEA KALLAX (formerly EXPEDIT) | ‘Ahoy!’ ship print – Art.co.uk

So that’s Oliver’s room. I hope it will grow with him, at least until he’s a grumpy teen who rebels against everything his mum likes! Any ideas for stuff I could add?

Psssst!! (Bex at The Mummy Adventure has also recently made over the bedroom for her two sons and is running a giveaway for this very bed so head on over!! Unfortunately I already own it or you can bet I wouldn’t be sharing this competition with anyone!)
